What exactly is PILATES? A total body conditioning method that includes strenghtening and lenghthening exercises The Pilates Method focuses on: Control, Concentration, Center, Fluidity, Breath (PAH-LAH-TEEZ) Pilates was founded by Joseph Pilates in the early 1920s, combining the Eastern and Western philosophies of mental and physical conditioning. Pilates conditioning was developed more than 75 years ago and was initially used by dancers and athletes. Today, it has become one of the most respected forms of exercise and movement. Pilates works the entire body with emphasis on your powerhouse -abdominals, hips, lower back, and buttocks. |
